The Feast
30 November 2021, 6 p.m.
gta exhibitions, ETH Zurich, Hönggerberg
COVID certificate required, limited capacity.
A warm invitation to the opening of the fifth and final stage of the exhibition The Power of Mushrooms: Berta Rahm’s Pavilion for the Saffa 58!
The Feast is a public festive dinner in the gta exhibitions space. The furniture of the pavilion’s original interior – the kitchen, tables, bookshelves – has all been reconstructed and translated into new materials by ANNEXE. For The Feast, the furniture forms an integral part of the exhibition, acting as kitchen and bar. From there, cooking collective KITCHUAN will introduce us to the art of preparing delicious mushroom dumplings, later served over the course of the evening.
The cooking workshop with KITCHUAN starts from 6 p.m. onwards. (As numbers were limited, all spots for the workshop have already been taken. Nonetheless, we would like to warmly invite you to the public dinner, which will take place in parallel to the cooking workshop.)
KITCHUAN is a Sichuan kitchen and workshop aimed at facilitating exchange and discourse through common cooking sessions. The collective consists of Shen He, Juliette Martin, and Blanka Major.
ANNEXE is a project to connect groups and structures run by women, while offering a platform for them to meet and build a network. This year – in the context of the 50th anniversary of women’s suffrage – the group behind the project (comprising Elena Chiavi, Kathrin Füglister, Amy Perkins, and Myriam Uzor) has been touring a reproduction of the pavilion’s original interior furniture through various places of cultural exchange in Switzerland, including Lausanne, St. Gallen, and Zurich.
The exhibition is curated by Milena Buchwalder, Sonja Flury, Dorothee Hahn, and Larissa Müllner on behalf of the ProSaffa1958-Pavillon association, together with the directors of gta exhibitions, Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen.
Special thanks to Daniel Sommer and the gta exhibition team, as well as Alfredo Thiermann and Fine Funghi AG
